The Lonely Singer

It seems an age ago since I was welcoming singers into the various venues for an evening of Pub Choir singing fun. And sometimes at seems like it will be a very long time until I am able to do that again. However, that day will come around quicker than we think and it will be an extra special moment when we are finally allowed to sing together again.

Until then, I look forward to my weekly Good Morning Sing-alongs on Facebook @carlspeckmusic. It’s lovely to know that many of the singers from the Good Morning Choir tune in to watch, listen and, hopefully, sing along with me! It has been great to return to piano teaching in my pupil’s homes over the past month, and they have got used to the various masks, visors, gloves and cleaning equipment that I produce from my bag of tricks each week. I also didn’t quite appreciate how well virtual music lessons had worked for them all; on seeing them in person again, it was a genuine surprise to ‘hear’ their progress in person.

Finally, I am hoping that Wednesday 30th September will finally see The Dover House Singers, my lovely community choir in Putney, come together for a COVID-Secure rehearsal. We have been meeting on Zoom since mid-March, rehearsing new and familiar songs and putting together some recordings of our work just for fun! Fingers crossed that our window of opportunity stays open long enough for this to happen.

Warm wishes to you all and I hope to see you very soon.
